anyway. this is maybe my favorite thread i’ve found on twitter the past couple days about why empathy directly translates to being able to enjoy sports regardless of the outcome. we’d all be better off and less bitter if we were willing to embrace the randomness of sport (especially ice hockey) or admit that the people we’re watching are actual people, lol. thank you twitter user himbeaux_on_ice for the logic in a sea of ugliness lkjsdklfjsdkl

I cannot survive this day lol

#it’s only noon and I need to go to bed immediately and start over #our one triumph today: at the dentist he had his first truly epic blowout - we’re talking poop all up his back inside his onesie #no changing table in the bathroom #and my mom had taken the car so no access to the more elaborate changing setup in the car #so I had to change him on the floor using the three remaining wipes in the pack #while he screamed like he was being tortured and kicked poop everywhere #but we did it we made it and then he chugged a bottle of milk like a soldier who’d just survived his first skirmish with the enemy #I have to take ruthie to the vet in a couple hours but she’s started acting fine today so I’m afraid I’ll be wasting a huge amount of money #meanwhile Pip has started vomiting everywhere #but I think he’s just stressed about baby/sudden change #naturally though I had to have a huge crying jag in the bathroom about the fact of his mortality #anyway friends I’m hanging in there #I need to just simplify simplify simplify #I will lie down for a bit now #then I will try to walk the dogs so it’s out of the way #need to leave by 2:30 to get Ruthie in #and I can listen to a hockey podcast and feel more human on the way #then once that’s done I can just do nothing tonight if I need to #my mom is leaving around 4 for the evening but #I’ve mixed the formula and cleaned all the bottles so I think I can just like #hopefully lie around with the baby #the other thing I need to do is write my mom a thank you letter before she leaves #I just haven’t had the energy but maybe I can ask her to take the baby for an hour tomorrow #and sit outside somewhere and work on it #postpartum tag #today has just been a higher difficulty level lol but I’ll have other kinds of days too #all will be well

In other, good news (For once for me!) my mom and her boyfriend finally agreed to let me carpool with them when we all leave Pittsburgh on Tuesday morning. The bad news is I have to figure out a way that I'm getting to Pittsburgh now last minute because I'll be there longer then them.

#personal #Like I'm coming in on Saturday and they're only coming in on Monday afternoon for a hockey game and then leaving the next morning.#And if I didn't have a tattoo appointment on Monday AND already paid the hotel in full for all my days?#I would have considered just doing the one day myself.#So now I'm sitting here weighing my options. I can either fly in or take the train in... Both have their positives and negatives.#I fucking LOVE taking the train but I don't like the fact that it only puts me in Pitt at like 8 PM at night.#But if I fly in it puts me in Pitt at like 11 in the morning and I would have to find a way to kill 5-6 hours until my hotel check-in.#<- Not to mention I'm like super scared of flying still and it's supposed to be windy here on Saturday.#Which I'm assuming isn't good for planes.#I was just considering making a driving playlist this morning because I thought I was driving the 8 hours total there and back.#Not ANYMORE! Even though I did agree to get behind the wheel for a little bit on the trek back #<- Doubt I will have to though because my mom's boyfriend is like the 'big man' and will NOT let me drive his car.

complaining again about the thing i complain about literally every day but its sooo stupid that recreational sports are exclusively for children… what if im an adult who wants to have fun. n then theres beer leagues in the sport of your choosing but you cant play those unless you already know the sport but they dont offer adult sport classes. when i am king i will say fuck them kids and force recreational sports leagues to exclusively deal with adults

#pains me actually. but i’m normal #except tennis which caters nearly exclusively to adults LOL #okay tbf theres probably some adult leagues back home i only checked the schedule at one arena lol #but that doesnt matter since i dont live there. and i will admit yes i do live in a small little city so the services are limited #but i want it….#i make this post like at least once a month i dont care its still annoying me #edit OGHH so toronto rec DOES offer many different adult programs BUT I DONT LIVE THERE in the winter…#and will not live there for the foreseeable future….#um if i flop and die after i graduate and move back in with my mother i guess i can play hockey..? thats so far away #well now im madly jealous…

the reaction to the NHL bringing 4 teams to sweden has been something that's been bugging me for the last few days like no, you don't need to 'grow the game' in sweden. everyone knows that there's already a steadfast loyalty and enjoyment of hockey there. but have any of the north american old men with (unfortunately) access to the internet thought about how accessible these games are to other european fans?? even some fans from non-european countries?? how it's easier for people not in canada/the us to enjoy literally 2 whole games because they're at a normal/manageable time?? that's how you grow the game. it's how you grow any sport. losers.

#i dont know if im making sense but it's genuinely been annoying me like go awayyyyyy #i do not CARE about the flow of the season they are getting a paid vacation and they get to play hockey for an adoring fanbase #they hire so many people to monitor them and to optimise their time over there to make sure they aren't too messed up coming back #this whole puritan attitude around how it's a Bad Thing that they travel outside of 2 countries is insane to me #in every other NA sport it's celebrated when teams go overseas #but these ugly old men have problems with EVERYTHING but will then turn around and complain about things like the cap and the figures which #can only be expanded if you broaden your reach #grow the game but only if it fits into the archaic structure set out by men who thought playing without helmets was a good idea
